It is based on what children need to learn and what we know about how they learn. The creative curriculum is a pre-kindergarten program designed for children ages 4 thru 5. When implemented, the following are some of the variables which will be observed in the classroom setting.
- The teachers and the environment will provide oppurtunities for children to experiment, solve problems, and make fruitful mistakes.
- Teachers will use an inquiry approach, asking questions designed to help the child develop their problem solving skills.
- Children will be allowed to make choices about learning each day while the teachers monitor.
Students will learn the critical components of the following subject areas:
- Language Arts: Listening, Speaking, Writing and Reading
- Mathematics: Numbers, Patterns, Measurements, and Data Correlation
- Science: Earth, Life and Physical correlations.
- Social Studies: Families, Heritages, and Different Cultures.
- Learn to express themselves
- Grow socially and emotionally
- Become more independent
- Gain a greater sense of self-confidence
- Learn to respect themselves
- Learn to interact with individuals outside of their school environment.
